What is Gement Connect?
BAM Construction Training is proud to announce our recent partnership with Gement Connect – a free upskilling programme that provides support for construction workers across the UK. The programme is fully funded by CITB, which means that it’s completely free to join! Once you’ve signed up, you’ll have 12 months to take advantage of as many of the upskilling services as you need.
Why Was the Programme Created?
The construction industry is currently facing huge skill shortages, with a recent study by CITB uncovering that 71% of new people left construction after just 3 months:
- 50% were dismissed – with the most common reasons including timekeeping, attendance, attitude, and lack of performance.
- 21% had resigned – with the most common reasons including lack of support from the employer and not feeling valued.
This is why Gement Connect was created. The programme aims to provide better support for construction workers to help increase retention rates and encourage upskilling. This is more important than ever, with Construction Skills Network estimating that at least 250,000 additional construction workers will be needed by 2026 to meet growing demand.
How can the Programme Support You?

Financial Literacy Courses
These courses provide support for construction workers who want to learn how to better manage their finances. Some of the hot topics covered include:
- HMRC
- UTR numbers
- CIS (Construction Industry Scheme)
- Understanding your payslip
- Becoming self-employed

Not happy in your current role? Don’t stress, the team at Gement are there to provide support for construction workers looking for their next job. You’ll receive 1-on-1 support at every step – from CV writing, finding and applying for work, and even preparing for interviews.

Join the Gement Connect buddy network, which offers group support for construction workers. This is a great way to build connections, expand your network, and share friendly encouragement. Want something more personal? You can also access individual mentoring, where the team at Gement will offer guidance on how to reach your career goals.

Who is Eligible for the Programme?
The programme was created to provide support for construction workers. Therefore, to be eligible for the Gement Connect programme, you must:
- Work in a construction-related occupation
- Have been in your current job role for six months or less
- Spend some of your working time on-site
