Have you ever wondered what it’s like to drive an industrial vehicle? Now is your chance to take a seat in an Apache Forklift and discover the fun of this 60-minute Counterbalance Forklift Driving Experience.

After a complete introduction and safety brief, don some safety gear and climb into the driver’s cabin for a 60-minute session. Take control under supervision as you learn to perform tasks while handling the industrial vehicle. This is no ordinary driving experience; test your skills and abilities as you lift various loads, place them on lorry beds, stack pallets, and manoeuvre through obstacles and restrictions.

At the end of your one-on-one session, there will be a chance to debrief and discuss future progression. A unique opportunity for any petrolhead or industrial vehicle enthusiast, you’ll have a driving experience with a difference.

FAQs

What happens on the day?

On arrival, you’ll be welcomed by the BAM Construction Training team. They’ll give you a quick briefing before leading you to your Apache Counterbalance Forklift. Throughout the 60-minute experience, you’ll carry out various activities, including preparing the machine for lifting various loads, stacking pallets and manoeuvring through several obstacles and restrictions.

Participant guidelines

Minimum age: 16 (under 18s need parental/guardian consent)
All participants must have a good understanding of the English language for instruction purposes
No license is required but is preferred
All drivers need to be in reasonable health and able to operate hand and foot controls
Individuals must bring safety boots (steel toe caps)
Please note: anyone deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to participate
2 spectators are welcome (under 18s need to be accompanied by a parent)
The centres contracted with us hold public indemnity liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover.
Some driving operators require customers to complete an Indemnity/Damage waiver form on the day of the experience. This may state that the driver will be liable for a fixed amount of costs should they damage the vehicle whilst driving. Most of these suppliers are able to provide Indemnity/Damage Waiver at a small additional fee (usually £20-£45) payable on site. The purchase of this is optional and is in addition to the Public Liability Insurance held by all venues. The full details of any indemnity or damage waiver will be provided by the activity operator. We are unable to advise or comment on the content or suitability of these products.

Availability

The experience is available Monday to Friday throughout the year. Exclusions may apply such as bank holidays. Some Saturdays may also be available. We recommend you book at least 4 weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability. Please allow 1 hour 30 minutes for the full experience. This includes a 15 minutes befiefing, 60 minutes on the machine and 15 mins debrief.

Insurance

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

Enjoyed the course, it was insightful. Trainers were helpful, instructive and patient. There's a lot to take in but they go at a steady pace without overwhelming you with information. Equipment was in very good condition. Tester was vigilant but also understanding of the weather conditions that day. All the facilities you need are there, the footwear cleaning station was much needed too.

Definitely found the course challenging but enjoyable. Nick had plenty of tricks and experience to guide us in the right direction throughout the week, getting everyone involved. Great use of models and tools to make it more understandable and easier to digest. Facilities were spot on and everyone was friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend BAMCT.
