A14 Rough Terrain Masted Forklift

Course introduction

BAM Construction Training’s CPCS A14 Rough Terrain Masted Forklift training course is designed to provide novice and intermediate operators with sufficient Rough Terrain Masted Forklift training which will enable them to competently and safely carry out the role as a Rough Terrain Masted Forklift Operator and pass the CPCS theory & practical assessments.

Eligibility Criteria

Before attending this course, candidates must pass the CITB Health and Safety Test for Operatives (OPS) within the past 2 years. We can accommodate this test at our centre for a fee of £60+VAT.

Course Learning Outcomes

  • Describe the nature of the sector of industry and their role and responsibilities as a plant operator.
  • Name & explain the purpose of principal components, controls & terminology.
  • Conform with manufacturer requirements and relevant regulations/legislation. Undertake all pre-use checks.
  • Operate the machine safely and efficiently.
  • Decide whether loads are safe to lift.
  • Maintain safe working situations
  • Carry out shut down and securing procedures.

Activity Instructions

Complete all manufacturers' pre-start and running checks. Prepare the forklift for travel.

In an unloaded state, travel up and down the slope and travel over rough terrain.

In an unloaded state, pass through a chicane executing right and left turns in a forward and reverse direction.

Reverse with a load in a straight line and pass through a restriction.

Lift and place 3 same-sized loads onto the truck bed. On completion, remove all loads from the truck bed.

Stack 3 same-sized loads vertically on top of one another. On completion, de-stack all of the load and place alongside each other.

Carry out undercutting by both lifting and placing a load.

Park the forklift and carry out shut-down and securing procedures.
