Crawler Crane Course (CPCS A02)

Course introduction

BAM Construction Training’s CPCS Crawler Crane course is designed to provide novice and intermediate operators with sufficient Crawler Crane training which will enable them to competently and safely carry out the role as a Crawler Crane Operator and pass the CPCS theory & practical assessments.

Eligibility Criteria

Before attending this course, candidates must pass the CITB Health and Safety Test for Operatives (OPS) within the past 2 years. We can accommodate this test at our centre for a fee of £60+VAT.

Course Learning Outcomes

  • Describe the nature of the sector of industry and their role and responsibilities as a plant operator.
  • Name & explain the purpose of principal components, controls & terminology.
  • Conform with manufacturer requirements and relevant regulations/legislation. Undertake all pre-use checks.
  • Operate the machine safely and efficiently.
  • Lift a variety of loads and rotate them at various radiuses.
  • Maintain safe working situations and tidy working areas.
  • Carry out shut down and securing procedures. Explain the procedures for transportation.

Activity Instructions

Complete pre-start and running checks. Prepare the crane for travel.

Travel to the work area and manoeuvre through restrictions.

Prepare and set the crane for each lift.

Change the number of falls on the hook block.

Lift loads and land them at a designated place.

Recover simulated 2 metre load swings.

On completion of lifting activities, configure the crane for travel.

Park the crane. Carry out shut-down and securing procedures.
