Course introduction

BAM Construction Training’s CPCS A56 Dump Truck Articulated Chassis training course is designed to provide novice and intermediate operators with sufficient Dump Truck Articulated Chassis training which will enable them to competently and safely carry out the role as a Dump Truck Articulated Chassis Operator and pass the CPCS theory & practical assessments.

Eligibility Criteria

Before attending this course, candidates must pass the CITB Health and Safety Test for Operatives (OPS) within the past 2 years. We can accommodate this test at our centre for a fee of £60+VAT.

  • Describe the nature of the sector of industry and their role and responsibilities as a plant operator.
  • Name & explain the purpose of principal components, controls & terminology.
  • Conform with manufacturer requirements and relevant regulations/legislation. Undertake all pre-use checks.

Activity Instructions

Complete all manufacturers’ pre-start and running checks. Prepare the dumper for travel.

In a loaded and unloaded state: travel up and down the slope, stop and start on the slope, travel over rough terrain, and position the dump truck for loading.

In an unladen state, drive through a restriction.

In a loaded state, reverse in a straight line and pass through a restriction at the end of the run.

Position the dump truck for loading.

Receive a load which fills the dump truck body to capacity.

Discharge the load over the edge or into the excavation.

Park the dump truck and carry out shut-down and securing procedures.
