Course introduction

BAM Construction Training’s CPCS A43 training course is designed to provide novice and intermediate operators with sufficient Screener training which will enable them to competently and safely carry out the role as a Screener Operator and pass the CPCS theory & practical assessments.

Eligibility Criteria

Before attending this course, candidates must pass the CITB Health and Safety Test for Operatives (OPS) within the past 2 years. We can accommodate this test at our centre for a fee of £60+VAT.

  • Describe the nature of the sector of industry and their role and responsibilities as a plant operator.
  • Name & explain the purpose of principal components, controls & terminology.
  • Conform with manufacturer requirements and relevant regulations/legislation. Undertake all pre-use checks.
  • Operate the machine safely and efficiently.
  • Screen materials into different sizes.
  • Maintain safe working situations.
  • Carry out shut down and securing procedures.

Activity Instructions

Certify that the screener is sited appropriately, stable, level and configured for screening duties.

Complete all manufacturers' pre-start checks.

Ensure the material is suitable for screening and set the screener for the given specification.

Ensure discharge area is suitable for receiving screened material.

Start the screener and engage all systems.

Screen material into at least three different sizes.

Operate the screener until a stockpile is produced that is 75% of the discharge conveyer height.

Clear all material from the screener and immediate area.

Carry out shut-down and securing procedures.
