Course introduction

BAM Construction Training’s CPCS Compact Crane training course is designed to provide novice and intermediate operators with sufficient Compact Crane training which will enable them to competently and safely carry out the role as a Compact Crane Operator and pass the CPCS theory & practical assessments.

Eligibility Criteria

Before attending this course, candidates must pass the CITB Health and Safety Test for Operatives (OPS) within the past 2 years. We can accommodate this test at our centre for a fee of £60+VAT.

Course Learning Outcomes

  • Describe the nature of the sector of industry and their role and responsibilities as a plant operator.
  • Name & explain the purpose of principal components, controls & terminology.
  • Conform with manufacturer requirements and relevant regulations/legislation. Undertake all pre-use checks.
  • Operate the machine safely and efficiently.
  • Lift a variety of loads and rotate them at various radiuses.
  • Maintain safe working situations.
  • Carry out shut down and securing procedures.

Activity Instructions

Complete all manufacturers' pre-start and running checks. Prepare the crane for travel.

Travel or manoeuvre to the work area.

Travel up and down the incline and execute full right and left turns.

Position, prepare and set the crane for each lift.

Lift a variety of loads and land at a designated place.

On completion of all lifting activities, configure the crane for travel.

Park the crane and carry out shut-down and securing procedures.
