Introduction
Traffic Marshall Course / Banksman Training – BAM Construction Training’s CPCS A73 Plant and Vehicle Marshaller training course (3 day foundation) is designed to provide novice and intermediate operators with sufficient vehicle marshaller training which will enable them to competently and safely carry out the role as a plant and vehicle marshaller and pass the CPCS theory/practical assessments.
We also offer a 2 day experienced worker course for candidates who do not require practical training.
Eligibility: Candidates must have a valid health, safety and environment test for operators (OPS) within the past 2 years (also referred to as the CSCS touch screen test). We can accommodate this at our centre for a fee of £50 (inc vat).
Traffic Marshall Course (CPCS A73) - Learning Outcomes
Through a combination of targeted vehicle marshaller training and experience, an individual on the traffic marshall course / banksman training course will learn to:
Explain the duties & responsibilities of those guiding the movement of plant in a variety of situations.
Describe & use different types of communication methods. Communicate movement information to drivers/operators.
Outline the hierarchy of control measures for vehicle movement, and the requirements of a work management traffic plan.
Explain the procedures to be followed if given information is insufficient or there is deviation from the given safe systems of work.
Explain types, attributes, limitations, hazards & stability factors on a range of typical plant & work related vehicles relevant to the sector.
Assess & confirm that areas remain suitable for manoeuvring activities, and that exclusion zones are maintained.
Explain how ground conditions, features, hazards & weight limits can affect operations of vehicles in different areas.
Guide & assist the movement of and position at given exact locations, a range of plant using the approved code of signals.
Activity Instructions
Demonstrate hand signals & relay the provided script using the hand-held radio. Assess vehicle movement area to ensure suitability.
Convey initial movement information at the start of operations & for each activity to the vehicle operator. Guide vehicle into given positions.
Guide vehicle in reverse directions. Reverse vehicle into an area with restricted width. Reverse the vehicle upto a structure.
Stop all vehicle movements when directed to do so. Adjust the exclusion zone to accommodate each size of vehicle.
