180 Excavator Training - CPCS A12

Course Introduction

CPCS 180 Excavator training is designed to help you become a qualified 180 excavator operator.

Choose between our novice and experienced training courses, based on your current operating experience.

Those who pass the CPCS theory and practical tests will achieve a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card, valid for 2 years.

Eligibility Criteria

Before attending this course, you must have passed the CITB Health and Safety Test for Operatives within the past 2 years. This can be completed at our Wokingham centre for £60+VAT.

Learning Outcomes

Describe the nature of the sector of industry and their role and responsibilities as a plant operator.
Name & explain the purpose of principal components, controls & terminology.
Conform with manufacturer requirements and relevant regulations/legislation. Undertake all pre-use checks.
Operate the machine safely and efficiently.

Activity Instructions

Complete all manufacturers' pre-start and running checks. Prepare the excavator for travel.

Travel to the work area and travel up and down the slope, pass through a restriction in forward and reverse, travel over rough terrain

Prepare and set the excavator for the relevant work.

Produce 4 equal length trenches to form a square.

Load material into a vehicle and change the backhoe bucket.

Lift and rotate various loads. Land loads at a designated place and detach.

Restore the work area back to its original state using all the functions of the multi-purpose bucket.

Park the excavator and carry out shut-down and securing procedures.
